The grand re-opening of our school was held on the 5th September 2007 when the former name the 5th Primary School was replaced with Siniša Glavašević Primary school, a name given after Vukovar’s renowned citizen Siniša Glavašević, who gave his life fighting for better life in Vukovar. Many reputable guests attended the ceremony, including Siniša's mother and son, Vukovar County Prefect Božo Galić, mayor of Vukovar Zdenka Buljan, actors from Zagreb National Theatre Rene Medvešek and Čedo Antolić, as well as the headmasters and employees of other schools from Vukovar. As a part of the ceremony, students presented their literary and artistic works gathered under the theme A Place Where the Danube Flows, which symbolically portrayed the town in all its colours throughout the seasons. Afterwards, guests were given a tour of the school with the presentation of the new and improved facilities including the new gym and modernised classrooms with specialised teacher offices.
